Well I am sorry for those of you who spent the day working, you just missed the best ridding day so far of 2009. It started off a little cold, but the sun decided to make an appearance and it turned into a spectacular day.

So if you missed it too bad, but I am sure 2009 has at least one more nice day left. :)

    CYCLE CANADA – APRIL 2002

The bike’s passenger seat swept up just enough that I could see over my father’s shoulders. That seat was my throne. My dad and I traveled many back roads, searching for the ones we had never found before. Traveling these roads just to see where they went. Never in a rush. Just be home for supper.

I remember wandering down a back road with my father, sitting on my throne watching the trees whiz by, feeling the rumble of our bike beneath us like a contented giant cat. A motorcycle came over a hill toward us and as it went by, my father threw up his gloved clutch hand and gave a little wave. The other biker waved back with the same friendly swing of his left wrist.

  • Forgotten Fathers

FrownThis year I joined the forgotten fathers club. This is the club where nobody, except you, remembers its fathers day. Well not everybody, my friend Dehanna was nice enough to remember, but not my wife or kids .

So, I hopped on my bike and decided to go find more members for the club. I didn’t ride very far before I knew where I must go, Tahoma National Cemetery. This is a place I visit quite often but today I had a special purpose.

Now I don’t actually know who is a father and who isn’t or for that matter, who was forgotten or not, so we just all hung out together.  (The others did not seem to mind, at least they kept quiet).

Thanks to everyone who came along on this ride.  It was a great day and I had a great time.

The route actually changed a little from what I initially planned but it was for the better.  I have only made the ride over highway 20 two times before today. It was always nice but today it was spectacular.  There was enough snow and runoff to fuel some great waterfalls and small lakes.  The water was that great green color and reflections everywhere.  More than a few times, I had thoughts of turning around and doing it again, but WTF there was more riding to do and there are not any bars anywhere near there anyways.
