  • A Letter From A Cub Scout

    Dear Mom & Dad,

    Our Scoutmaster told us to write to our parents in case you saw the flood on TV and are worried. We are okay. Only one of our tents and 2 sleeping bags got washed away. Luckily, none of us got drowned because we were all up on the mountain looking for Adam when it happened.

    Oh yes, please call Adam's mother and tell her he is okay. He can't write because of the cast. I got to ride in one of the search and rescue jeeps. It was neat. We never would have found Adam in the dark if it hadn't been for the lightning.

    Scoutmaster Keith got mad at Adam for going on a hike alone without telling anyone. Adam said he did tell him, but it was during the fire so he probably didn't hear him. Did you know that if you put gas on a fire, the gas will blow up?

  • Sand Lake

    Setting up camp at the sand lake rec area. Yes that is Donna sitting around the camp fire pit.

    We stayed here for a couple of nights and after we got our tent off the incline, slept pretty well.  The first night we pulled in fairly late with plenty of Rum but no food.  Chris was reduced to eating things he found in his pocket lint.  The rest of us survived on some cinnamon bears.  The second night was just the opposite, we had so much food there was hardly room for more drinks.

  • Oregon Coast Bike Trip

    OK- it’s fast approaching – here’s the plan:
     
    Thu, Aug 14          7:00am      Meet at Steel Dreams – Burlington for a quick bite
                                                     Head to Renton Motorcycles to pickup Kirk/Donna and anyone else :o )
                                                     First day – make it to our campsite:
                                                            Sand Lake Recreation Area – Sandbeach Campground
                                                            (~12 mi S of tillamook, Or)
                                                            spots 28, 29 and 30
     
    Fri, Aug 15th                           Head down the coast
                                                     have the same camp spot above reserved for friday night too – don’t have                                                  to stay here – can stay further down the coast – wasn’t sure if we’d make it
                                                     to the campsite the first night
                                                     Pammy and Boyfriend are meeting up with us on this day/night!!
     
    Sat, Aug 16th                          Head back up the coast
                                                     stay in motel somewhere!! 
     
    Sun, Aug 17th                         Head home  :o (   – and my birthday – 39 AGAIN!!!!  :o )
     
    Really hope everyone can make it – this is our only ride this year and i know we DEFINITELY need the break!!  :o )  After this, it’s heads-down on the house again….!!
